As a developer of a popular iPhone app there are many issues and bugs that I'm unable to reproduce. Therefore we incorporate very thorough logging, but up until Shipbook it was only available when a technical user would send us an email with the relevant information on his device where the information was logged. With Shipbook, we have access to all that information from a convenient dashboard. We can also cross reference the issue with other occurrences for different users and narrow down the causes for the bugs
How can I maintain good visibility of logs after switching to Shipbook?
Do I need to relearn how to work with Shipbook after SwiftyBeaver?
Shipbook provides advanced analytics and remote monitoring of logs, giving you the ability to efficiently manage and analyze your application’s logs in a focused manner.
The transition from SwiftyBeaver to Shipbook is smooth and simple. Just create a new class called ׳ShipbookDestination׳ and add it to your logging settings, and all your logs will continue to function as usual using the familiar interfaces of SwiftyBeaver.
Continue using the SwiftyBeaver API to send logs without any complex changes.
Advanced Features: Real-time logging alerts, comprehensive analytics, and advanced log management.
What do we do when SwiftyBeaver's cloud service ends?
We understand the concern and the need for a smooth transition after SwiftyBeaver's cloud services were discontinued. We're here to assist with a solution that’s tailored for developers familiar with SwiftyBeaver, allowing you to maintain a similar workflow while upgrading your logging capabilities significantly.
Shipbook makes it easy to integrate with your existing codebase. The setup process is very similar to what you're used to with SwiftyBeaver. Simply add the Shipbook library to your project and configure your log destinations similarly to before. The transition to cloud logging will be seamless, offering you enhanced control, monitoring, and analysis—all within Shipbook’s secure cloud environment.
We know that developers who have used SwiftyBeaver for a long time are accustomed to a certain style of working. That’s why we’ve focused on ensuring that the switch to Shipbook is as effortless as possible, without requiring major changes to your daily routine. You can still enjoy the simplicity of logging with added benefits like full searchability, real-time analysis, and centralized logging for all your platforms, without the hassle of managing logs locally.
You can continue to work with the log levels you know (Verbose, Debug, Info, Warning, Error) and route each level to different destinations if required. If you’re used to color-coded console logs, you can keep that format while benefiting from the advanced features of cloud logging.
While I currently don’t have data to share on other developers who have made the switch, we’re confident that Shipbook offers the comprehensive solution you’re looking for in managing your logs and maintaining a smooth workflow.
